With over 20 years of experience as a professional coach, Total Football founder and president Leigh Manson is a leading figure in Japanese football coaching. Prior to coming to Japan, Leigh worked for three professional teams in the UK, and was part of a team responsible for regional development of the British National Women’s team.
In Japan, Leigh’s programs are known not just for coverage of technical skills, but also the strong emphasis placed upon players’ attitudes towards football. Leigh is also respected at the highest levels of international coaching, recently being invited to participate in a 10-day coaching camp organised by the Royal Netherlands Football Association.
Leigh’s book, the ‘World Class Training Bible’ was recently published as a part of Kodansha’s top athletics series, Kamiwaza.
Jorge KuriyamaSpecialist Goalkeeper coach

Jorge is a former Mexico U18 goalkeeper, and played as pro goalkeeper for Cruz Azul, one of the most successful clubs in North and Central America. Jorge retired in 1998 to become a goalkeeper coach. Professional experience and practical coaching techniques are his specialties.
Takumi Kushiyama
Assistant Coach / Interpreter
Having played football for several years, Takumi began coaching after graduating from high school. During his time as an exchange student in England he studied British and European football, and having obtained his London FA Level 2 license he coached a local U8 team. Through his experience in the UK he came to understand the differences between Japanese and European football, and he’s committed to helping improve coaching for players here in Japan.
Hiroo YamashitaKansai Region Manager / Assistant Coach

Hiroo became a coach after playing for Tokai University high school, Kyushu and Kansai adults’ league. He has taken short-term coaching training courses at Manchester United FC and FC Internazionale Milano. After coaching at Hirakata FC, he joined Total Football and now is in charge of the Kansai area where he manages the coaching schedule and works on the pitch as an assistant coach.
Jun NishiokaAssistant Coach / Interpreter
Jun headed to the US after high school where he majored in coaching and kinesiology in a community college. While playing for a semi-pro team and the college team, he learned practical coaching methods from several coaches who played for the national team and top pro teams. Jun now coordinates schedules for elite training sessions in the Kanto area, and works as an interpreter and assistant coach on the pitch. He hopes to get across to as many players as possible the importance of soccer in life!
Trent AndersonAcademy Manager

Trent Anderson is Academy Manager and Head Coach of TFA Elite Soccer Academy. Coach Trent served as captain of Portland State University team for two consecutive seasons, and for the past 15 years has worked with various age groups from pre-K up through to the adult level. Most recently, he has volunteered his time and expertise for the betterment of the Yokota community by assuming the positions of Head Coach for the Yokota AB Adult Varsity Soccer Team and Assistant Coach for the Yokota H.S. Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team.
Trent also holds a Master of Education degree from Portland State University.
